RAC is the latest CVC portfolio company to run the Prince's Trust "Get Into Customer Service". Ten unemployed young people were given training in customer service skills and work experience at RAC's call centre in Walsall near Birmingham. Following completion of the programme, eight participants were offered positions at RAC and will begin 14 month paid apprenticeships. The pilot was a great success and RAC intends to offer the programme again next year and will consider extending it to other RAC locations around the UK.
Rachel Blay, RAC's group chief people officer said: "For RAC, the program delivers a new talent pipeline for our customer service contact centres, whilst enabling us to reach out and help support young people in the community. This outstanding result has led to our confirmation that we will run the Get Into Customer Service programme alongside the Prince's Trust annually."
