In July this year, CVC Credit Partners, a leading global alternative investment manager focused on sub-investment grade debt capital markets in the US and Europe, was delighted to be able to sponsor the 2016 IRTPA Professional Doubles Finals held at Prested Hall in Essex between 8-11th.
The tournament was back on the calendar this year, absent since 2007, and there was a good turnout of the UK’s top professionals. Richard Smith, partnered by Ben Matthews (ranked 2) beat Rob Fahey & Chris Chapman (ranked 1) in a five set final 4/6 6/5 2/6 6/5 6/4.
CVC Credit Partners is proud to support this rather unique game as we encourage young up and coming players of the future, and there is no better way to inspire them than watching the world's best players perform on court. Prested Hall works closely with local schools, lawn tennis and squash clubs, both of which provide skills required to play the game. Through sponsorship and members' donations, those less fortunate are able to try the sport under the careful tutelage of Richard, who we can now call one half of the UK doubles champion.
CVC Credit Partners CVC congratulates Richard and Ben on their great win and look forward to the World Doubles, also at Prested Hall, in April next year. Prested Hall is also in the final stages of completing its two new Padel Courts. Padel tennis is the fastest evolving sport in Europe, and the club will have the resources to hold UK, European and, perhaps one day, World Championships in the near future.
